Late Mr. Emmanuel Ogunlowo (FCA, FCTI, ACMA, ACIS)

Mr. Emmanuel Ogunlowo founded the firm. He started his working career as an Accountant with the Department of National Provident Fund of the Federal Ministry of Finance.  He joined Nigeria Textile Mills Plc in late 1965 as an Accountant and rose to the position of Finance Manager before he left early in 1975. He then joined the Commonwealth Development Corporation as Chief Accountant/Company Secretary and was in that position until the end of December 1975 when he was invited to join Colgate – Palm Olive (Nig) Limited.

He joined Colgate-Palm Olive Limited in 1976 as Finance Controller/Company Secretary.  He was the most Senior African Personnel in the African & Asian Division of Colgate Palm Olive International of New York.  He worked in that position for 2^1/2 years.  The indigenisation Decree made the company decide to wind up its operations rather than sell majority shares to Nigerians.  The company, therefore, decided to go into voluntary liquidation.  He was then appointed the liquidator.

This gave him a unique opportunity to handle, from the beginning to the end, the liquidation of such a giant international company.  He assumed the position of a liquidator in 1978 and completed the same by rendering the necessary accounts in 1980. He then started the firm of Emmanuel Adeyemo Ogunlowo& Co (Chartered Accountants) in 1981.

Mr. Ogunlowo was a member of various professional bodies, some of which were Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), Associate of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS). He was also a past chairman of the Ikeja district of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He retired as Managing Partner in 2010. He died on 30^th December 2021
